Orthodontics – Braces
Orthodontics is a field of dentistry that deals with corrections involving jaw and teeth alignment which aims for a healthy and attractive smile.
Braces employ the use of wires and are usually one of three types:
Old-fashioned, conventional braces, which employ the use of metal strips, or bands.
Metal or plastic brackets that are cemented or bonded to teeth.
Use of clear, custom removable aligners (Invisalign / Clearcorrect)
In our office, we utilize aligner therapy which is virtually invisible way to straighten your teeth using a series of clear removable aligners without metal wires or brackets. You wear each set of clear aligners for about two (three) weeks, removing them only to eat, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move – little by little, week by week – until they have straightened to the final position our dentist has prescribed. You’ll visit us about every 4-6 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. Total treatment time averages 10-16 months and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 20 and 32, but both will vary from case to case.
